YOUNG, WILD AND “Frites”: per le strade di Bruxelles

🇮🇹 Le “Frites”. Cosa sono? Immagino tu lo sappia ma quello che forse non conosci è il sapore unico che hanno quelle tipiche di Bruxelles. Le vere Frites sono servite nel cono di carta (ordina il formato Large, quando si cede al peccato di gola meglio farlo come si deve! 😉 ) e vanno assaporate fino all’ultimo chicco di sale! Si trovano chioschetti ovunque ma se cerchi quello davvero formidabile devi provare il “Frit’ Flagey” nella Place Flagey vicino ai laghetti di Ixelles. La fila è quasi incessante perciò, se puoi, evita gli orari di punta. Ad ogni modo, fila o non fila, non te ne pentirai!

🇬🇧 “Frites”?. What’s Frites? We’re sure you already know that, but you probably don’t know the extraordinary flavor of typical Bruxelles’ chips. The original Frites are served in a paper cone (order the Large size! When you commit sin of gluttony, do it well! 😉 ) and you have to taste it till the last grain of salt! You can find little kiosks everywhere, but if you want to try the best of all you have to go to “Frit’ Flagey” in Place Flagey near Ixelles’ lakes. Don’t go there in the rush-hour if you can, or you will find a very long line. In any case it’s worth it!

🇮🇹 Wild. Selvaggiamente colorata. I fumetti e le vignette super colorate spuntano improvvisamente dalle facciate di case ed edifici dei quartieri della città (particolarmente concentrate nella zona di Saint-Géry). Dopo esserti imbattuto nelle prime due vignette ti accorgerai che  starai continuando a passeggiare col naso all’insù e a bocca aperta! È insolito come questi  vivaci fumetti non stonino assolutamente con l’eleganza dei palazzi antichi che li circondano. Anzi infondono allegria e illuminano le vie.

🇬🇧 Wild. Wild colours. Super colored comics and wall paintings show up from the front of the houses, especially in Saint-Géry neighborhood. After you’ll see two of these you’ll notice that you won’t stop looking upwards and agape! It’s funny how this bright comics absolutely don’t crash with the elegance of old buildings around.  They instill happiness and light up the streets.

🇮🇹 Design multicolor. La magia dei colori selvaggi imperversa anche nel design. Locali, negozi (fantastico il Bellerose store di Place Stéphanie http://www.bellerose.be/),hotel e persino le stazioni della metro (fermati nella stazione di Heysel, quella dell’Atomo) sembrano mostre d’arte contemporanea.

🇬🇧 Design multicolor. The magic of wild colors is all the rage in clothing stores (the Bellerose Store in Place Stéphanie is wonderful http://www.bellerose.be/),pubs, hotels and also in subway stations (stop at Heysel, the Atomium station). They seem contemporary art exhibitions.

🇮🇹 Proprio come il Pantone Hotel (https://www.pantonehotel.com/) dove abbiamo soggiornato. Un hotel boutique coi fiocchi con cui l’azienda statunitense Pantone ha reso un vero tributo alla cromoterapia. Il bianco rilassante degli ambienti si fonde con i colori vivaci dei prodotti della vasta gamma Pantone che diventano  parte dell’ arredamento. Ad ogni camera è destinato un colore particolare. A noi è stato assegnato l’energizzante Orange. La colazione è una sinfonia di sapori e toni cangianti, aiuta a cominciare la giornata col piede giusto (insieme alla cortesia e la disponibilità dello staff!). Inoltre è ottima la posizione in cui è situato: il quartiere di St. Gilles è vicino ad importanti collegamenti col resto della città ma lontano dalla caotica zona della Grand Place.

🇬🇧 Just like the Pantone Hotel (https://www.pantonehotel.com/) where we stayed. An excellent boutique-hotel and a real tribute to chromotherapy for Pantone U.S. Company. “Relaxing white” blends with bright colors of Pantone’s wide range of products. And it’s funny how  these items become part of the forniture of the hotel. Every room has got a particular color and ours was the energyzing Orange. Breakfast is a symphony of iridescent shades and flavors, it helps you to get off to a good start (also thanks to staff’s kindness! ). Pantone’s location is very good: St. Gilles neighborhood is close to important connections of the city and far enough from chaotic Grand Place square.

🇮🇹 Young. Bruxelles è affollata di gioventù. Giovani ragazzi in perfetto stile hipster invadono le strade e si radunano nelle piazze con le loro inseparabili biciclette. Molti scelgono questa città come meta per il proprio Erasmus e si ritrovano nei bar per studiare in compagnia. Fra la moltitudine di questi locali il workshop café (https://fr-fr.facebook.com/WorkshopCafeBelgium)merita sicuramente una sosta! Qui tutto è ideato per studiare e per lavorare a computer in perfetta comodità in un ambiente ampio e luminoso. Davvero carino!

🇬🇧 Young. Bruxelles is crowded of young people. Many guys, in perfect hipster style, meet up in the squares of the city with their inseparable bikes. A pretty place where students and young friends go to study or to work with computer is the workshop café (https://fr-fr.facebook.com/WorkshopCafeBelgium)! Everything here is thought up to work in a comfortable and bright room. Very pretty!

🇮🇹 E ogni prima domenica del mese si riaccende l’antico mercato coperto Halles Saint-Géry in occasione della fiera del vintage di Bruxelles. Atmosfera allegra e retrò! Gli stands propongono svariati prodotti: oggetti di arredamento, abiti e accessori. In mezzo al mercato spunta un grande obelisco dove ai piedi ci si può gustare un’ottima birra belga a ritmo di musica. Una valida alternativa al solito shopping per negozi.

🇬🇧 And the first Sunday of every month the old covered market of Halles Saint-Géry revive for Bruxelles vintage fair. Rétro and cheerful atmosphere! Stands offer furniture items, clothes and accessories. A big obelisk  shows up in the middle of the market and at the foot of it you can drink a good Belgian beer and listening to some music. Real better than the usual shopping!
