LA SCARZUOLA: I MISTERI NASCOSTI NEL CUORE DELL’UMBRIA.

🇮🇹 NEL CUORE DELL’UMBRIA.

Cos’è la Scarzuola? E’ un luogo misterioso nascosto tra i boschi nel cuore dell’Umbria, in particolare a Montegiove una minuscola frazione del piccolo Comune di Montegabbione (provincia di Terni). Per raggiungerla dovrete intraprendere una strada di circa 2 km completamente (forse volutamente) sterrata, che mette alla prova tutti i curiosi.

🇬🇧 What is Scarzuola? It’s a mysterious place hidden in the woods in the heart of Umbria, particularly in Montegiove a tiny fraction of the small town of Montegabbione (Terni province). To reach it you’ll have to take a road of about 2 km completely (perhaps intentionally) dirt, that tests all the curious .

🇮🇹 UN PO’ DI STORIA.

Il nome La Scarzuola deriva dalla Scarza, la pianta palustre che San Francesco utilizzò nel 1218 per costruirsi una capanna utile a trovare riparo proprio nel bosco dove oggi sorge questa magnifica opera. In ricordo del suo passaggio, a fine 1200, venne edificato un Convento Francescano. Nel 1956 l’architetto-designer Tomaso Buzzi acquistò il Convento e l’intero terreno circostante e costruì la sua “città ideale”. La Scarzuola è una sorta di autobiografia architettonica di cui lo stesso Buzzi afferma: [blockquote_sty ver=”2″ border_size=”4px” color=”#0F0F0F”]“Quando sono con voi sono vestito e in cravatta; quando sono qui alla Scarzuola, sono nudo, e questo voi non potete sopportarlo”[/blockquote_sty]

🇬🇧 The name Scarzuola comes from Scarza, the marsh plant that St. Francis used it in 1218 to build a hut useful to seek shelter in the woods where today stands this magnificent artwork. In memory of his passing, at the end of 1200, here was built a Franciscan monastery. In 1956 the architect-designer Tomaso Buzzi bought the convent and the whole surrounding land and built his “ideal city”. 🇮🇹 UN PERCORSO SURREALE.

La Scarzuola rappresenta il mondo alla rovescia, dove tutti i concetti e le convinzioni vengono capovolte. Il significato specifico non è mai stato svelato e probabilmente mai verrà diffuso! Potete visitarla solo tramite visita guidata e rigorosamente su appuntamento (per maggiori info collegatevi al sito ufficiale: www.lascarzuola.com). Una volta ricevuta la conferma (ermetica, vi risponderanno a monosillabi!) questo è ciò che vi aspetterà…

🇬🇧 Scarzuola represents the world upside down, where all ideas and convictions are overturned. The specific meaning has never been revealed and probably never will be explained! You can visit it only by guided tour and strictly by appointment (for more info connect to the official website : www.lascarzuola.com ). Once you receive the confirmation (hermetic , they will answer in monosyllables!) this is what you have to expect…

🇮🇹 Dopo l’impervio percorso arriverete davanti al portone di ingresso, già ricco di simboli religiosi. Attendete il suono della campanella e verrete accolti all’interno dall’attuale proprietario Marco Solari, un personaggio del tutto folcloristico che vi guiderà con racconti al primo impatto incomprensibili.

🇬🇧 After the steep path you will come in front of the main entrance, already rich of religious symbols. Wait for the sound of the bell and you will be welcomed inside by the present owner Marco Solari, a character totally folkloric that will guide you with tales at first impact incomprehensible .

🇮🇹 Vi verranno mostrate, purtroppo, solo alcune parti esterne e solo alcuni simboli. Sarete liberi di ascoltare o meno il Signor Solari (noi vi consigliamo di farlo perchè renderà la visita ancora più mistica e speciale) oppure di scattare foto a vostro piacimento. In entrambi i casi sarete comunque sempre controllati da Solari e da un simpatico assistente dall’accento tipicamente anglosassone, che vi fermeranno gentilmente non appena vi addentrerete dove “l’assicurazione non copre” (questa è la loro giustificazione, sarà la verità?!). Insomma, i veri misteri della Scarzuola sono quelli che non vi verranno mostrati!

🇬🇧 They will show, unfortunately, only a few external parts and only a few symbols. You will be free to listen or not Mr. Solari (we recommend you to do so because it will make the visit even more mystical and special), or to take pictures at your leisure. In both cases you will be always controlled by Solari and a nice assistant with Anglo-Saxon accent, which kindly stop you as soon as you go where “insurance does not cover them” ( this is their justification, it will be the truth?! ). In short, the real mysteries of Scarzuola are those who will not show you!

🇮🇹 Nonostante questo, il percorso tra simboli religiosi, massonici ed esoterici vi lascerà a bocca aperta e sicuramente un po’ diversi rispetto a come eravate prima di varcare la soglia del portone. Un signore che ha seguito il percorso insieme a noi ci ha confessato: “ho viaggiato tutto il mondo alla ricerca di luoghi bizzarri e mi rendo conto solo ora che il più particolare di tutti ce l’avevo vicino a casa!”.

🇬🇧 Despite this, the route between religious,Masonic and esoteric symbols will leave you speechless and definitely a bit different from the way you were before crossing the threshold of the door. A man who has followed the route with us confessed: ” I have traveled around the world all my life in search of crazy places and I realize only now that the most strange of all I had it close to home.”

🇮🇹 AGRITURISMO PODERE LE OLLE: COOKING HOLIDAYS.

🇮🇹Per visitare la Scarzuola abbiamo deciso di alloggiare all’Agriturismo Podere le Olle e si è rivelato davvero una bella sorpresa! Si tratta di un casolare in stile rustico tipicamente umbro, del tutto ristrutturato mantenendo alcuni dettagli della tradizione rivisitati in parte anche in chiave moderna. Nessuna in tv in camera, nessun rumore di disturbo, solo natura, sole e tranquillità: un relax rigenerante davvero impagabile a soli 20 minuti d’auto dalla Scarzuola!

🇬🇧 To visit Scarzuola we decided to stay at Agriturismo Podere le Olle and it really was a nice surprise! It is a farmhouse in the typical Umbrian country style, completely renovated keeping some details revisited traditional in a modern way. No tv in the room, no disturbing noise, just nature, sun and peace: an total priceless relax just 20 minutes’ drive from Scarzuola!

🇮🇹 Oltre al soggiorno potrete anche prenotarvi per partecipare a dei corsi di cucina seguiti dal titolare che è anche Chef, insieme a turisti appassionati di cucina italiana provenienti da tutto il mondo, dalla Svezia fino a Singapore!

🇬🇧 Besides the accommodation you can also book to attend cooking classes followed by the owner who is also Chef, with tourists lovers of Italian cuisine from around the world , from Sweden to Singapore!
