🇮🇹 Appena rientrati da un delizioso weekend a sorpresa, abbiamo pensato di condividere qualche foto e informazione su come gustarsi la montagna anche quando non c’è la neve! Prendi un weekend di ottobre qualunque, la malinconia delle grigie nuvole autunnali e una telefonata con una proposta inaspettata: prepara la valigia per due giorni di relax e cultura ad alta quota! Improvvisamente tutto cambia umore e la malinconia autunnale sparisce. Si parte per l’Appennino modenese, la prima tappa è Fanano. Piccolissimo borgo nel cuore delle montagne e dei boschi dominati dai lupi. Ecco perchè la zia di Nick, Carla, ha scelto questa location per la sua mostra “Balla coi lupi”. Non per la parentela, ma crediamo che i suoi quadri e le sue opere siano davvero particolari e suggestivi per questo vogliamo condividerli qui.

🇬🇧Just back home from a gorgeous weekend, we have decided to share some pics and informations to suggest you a how to live the mountain also when there isn’t the snow. Think about a normal weekend of October, a grey gloomy autumnal weekend, when you receive an unexpected phone call: prepare your suitcase for 2 days of relax and culture at high altitudes! Suddenly the melancholy disappears. Direction: Modena Apennine. First stop: the small village of Fanano. This place is in the middle of the mountains and in the forest around is easy to find wolves. This is one of the reasons why Carla, Nick’s aunt, choose Fanano for her exhibition “Dances with wolves”. We decided to share her story not because she is our relative, but because we think that her paintings are very particulars and touching.

🇮🇹 Carla ha una forte passione per gli indiani d’America e per tutto il loro mondo e le loro tradizioni. Le sue opere sono dedicate a questa tematica, i materiali utilizzati in parte rievocano questo popolo e in parte, come per esempio il sale di Cervia, le origini di Carla. Un’altra caratteristica che rende i suoi quadri davvero suggestivi sono i pigmenti che cambiano colore al buio esaltando dettagli che alla luce normale non emergono.

🇬🇧 Carla has got a great passion for America Indians and their traditions. Her paintings are all dedicated to this population and materials remind their world and also, like Cervia’ salt, the origins of Carla. The particular pigments make her artworks very suggestive because in the darkness they change colors and reveal details that you don’t notice with normal light.

🇮🇹 A pochi chilometri da Fanano c’è la più nota Sestola. Normalmente è conosciuta solo come meta sciistica ma qui vogliamo mostrartela come una valida destinazione anche per una piacevole passeggiata culturale e un soggiorno all’insegna del vero slow food. All’Hotel San Rocco, in pieno centro, potrai gustare una cena assolutamente divina. I piatti sono preparati con ingredienti di stagione rigorosamente nostrani accompagnanti da vini pregiati, il tutto in un ambiente intimo, caldo e con buona musica in sottofondo scelta dal simpaticissimo proprietario (ex musicista). Il posto nella Guida Michelin che detiene da diversi anni è assolutamente super meritato!

🇬🇧 Not far from Fanano there is the best known Sestola. Sestola is usually known as a ski destination but here we want to show you that it is also a good choice for a pleasant and cultural walk and a trip into the true slow food. At San Rocco Hotel, placed in the center, you can enjoy a dinner absolutely divine. The dishes are prepared with seasonal ingredients strictly locally soucerd, accompanied by fine wines all in an intimate, warm ambient with good music in background, chosen by the very nice owner (an ex-musician). The nomination in Michelin Guide is absolutely deserved!

🇮🇹 E per concludere il weekend vale la pena perdersi nei vicoli del paese fino a raggiungere il Castello arroccato. All’interno potrai fare un salto nel passato ammirando numerosissimi oggetti tipici della tradizione di Sestola.
